Job Description

Job Title: Accounting Staff
Department: Finance Department
Reporting to: Senior Accountant

Job Summary: The Accounting Staff – Bookkeeping is responsible for recording, organizing, and maintaining financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner. The role focuses on day-to-day bookkeeping tasks such as encoding transactions, preparing vouchers, reconciling records, and assisting with statutory reports and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update journals, ledgers, and subsidiary records.
  • Prepare and encode accounts payable and accounts receivable entries.
  • Record daily sales, purchases, collections, and disbursements.
  • Prepare checks, vouchers, and other supporting documents for transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements, cash reports, and inventory records.
  • Assist in monthly and year-end closing activities.
  • Help with BIR compliance tasks (e.g., 2307, VAT returns, 2550M/Q, 1601C).
  • Organize and file accounting documents and records systematically.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing necessary documents.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, clients, and other departments on financial transactions.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or Finance.
  • At least 6 months to 2 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping or general accounting.
  • Fresh graduates with strong accounting internship experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with Philippine tax laws and BIR forms is an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and basic accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

KSAO for Accounting Staff

Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
  • Understanding of bookkeeping cycles, double-entry accounting, and chart of accounts.
  • Familiarity with BIR reporting requirements (Form 2307, 2550M/Q, 1601C, 0619-E, etc.).
  • Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes.
  • Awareness of internal controls and audit trails.

Skills:

  • Proficient in data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Effective use of spreadsheets (MS Excel – formulas, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Able to use basic accounting software is an advantage.
  • Time management skills to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.

Abilities:

  • Ability to identify and correct errors in financial data.
  • Capable of organizing large volumes of financial records and documents.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on routine tasks.
  • Able to communicate clearly with suppliers, colleagues, and auditors.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
