Job Description

Carpenter duties and responsibilities

The typical duties and responsibilities of a carpenter include the following:

Review drawings and blueprints to determine which materials and installation approach to use
Use power tools to cut and prepare timber and assemble wood to form structures as required
Create building frameworks, floors and roofs, or smaller items like furniture or skirting boards
Fit doors and window frames
Assemble and install prefabricated structures, e.g. homes
Install fixtures and hardware such as door handles, locks, insulating material or underlay
